	New Ontario Track and Field Record Alex Morrow (Southampton) of the Saugeen Track and Field Club established a New Ontario Record for Youth Girls in the Pentathlon this past weekend. Alex was competing at the Ontario Combined Events Championships at York University. Alex's record score of 3292 points exceeded the old record by over 150 points. Alex’s individual results in the Pentathlon competition were 60 Metre Hurdles 9.35 seconds , High Jump 1.48 metres , Long Jump 5.52 metres , Shot Put 9.14 metres and the 800 metre run was completed in 2:31.37 seconds. From the Ontario University Scene Mat West (Mildmay) a member of the Saugeen Track and Field Club and freshman at the University of Windsor Ontario won the Pentathlon at Findlay University’s Track and Field Classic in Ohio with a score of 3525. This score ranks Mat second in Ontario Universities and fifth in Canadian Universities. Caitlyn MacMillan (Port Elgin) as a member of the University of Western Ontario Track and Field Team competed at the McGill Team Challenge in Montreal. Caitlyn ran a personal best time in the 60 metre hurdles 6.39 seconds to place 6th, she followed this run with a huge Personal Best Performance in the 300 , stopping the clock at 41.73 seconds for an 11th. place finish . Rita Rudell (Oliphant) competing for UNLV had a good start to the 2012 season after a lengthy time away from the sport. Rita was competing in the Pentathlon at the Mountain's T's Invite in Flagstaff Arizona. Rita finished 9th in a strong NCAA field. On the Local Scene Two members of the Saugeen Track and Field Club capture medals at the Ontario Legion Track and Field Championships at York University on Saturday January 28th. Ellen Diemert of Owen Sound place 2nd in the Youth Girls 800 with a time of 2:20.0 , Alex Morrow of Southampton finished 3rd in the Youth Girls 60metre hurdles in a personal best time of 9.19 seconds.		Click here to view Fixtures in calendar format Click here to download Fixtures in text format New Uniform Information Local Athletes Qualify for Ontario Track and Field Team Two members of the Saugeen Track and Field Team have been named to the Ontario Youth Track and Field Team. The Ontario Team will travel to Montreal for a dual meet with Quebec at McGill University on February 4th. Alex Morrow of Southampton will be competing in the 60 metre hurdles and the long jump , Ellen Diemert of Owen Sound will compete in the 800. Each Province is allowed to enter two athletes per event. Each event is scored with the top team being declared the 2012 Champion. If practice is cancelled for any reason, we will post this information to local/facebook as soon as we can. If the schools are open, then practice will proceed for those who can safely make it! If the weather is bad or the roads are icy where you are, then it's simple...don't travel!! If you want to know what the weather is like in Port Elgin, then check the road reports. 	Happy 30th birthday in 2012 to Saugeen Track and Field Club!! Remember to mark your calendars for the weekend of July 14th for the STFC 30th reunion (camping at Farrell's, scavenger hunt, big screen show, music games for kids, canoe down the river etc. etc) If you can direct any STFC Alumni to this site, please do!! This year, former STFC athlete Mary Jane (Middelkoop) Roberts was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the University of Tennesse at Chattanooga. There is an excellent article about Mary Jane HERE. Please take time to read this! Her message about combining academics and sport in preparation for Life is profound. It's something from which we all can all learn. Congratulations, Mary Jane!! Congrats to STFC Alumnus and Tara native, Lieutenant-Colonel Alex Ruff. He was was honoured with a parade as he assumed position of Commanding Officer of the Second Battalion of The Royal Canadian Regiment located at CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick. Awesome!! Congratulations to Reid and STFC Alumnus Sarah (Champion) Wuntke on the birth of their baby son. Nathan Geoffrey Wuntke was born December 5th, 2010 weighing 7 lbs, 11 oz. Congratulations to Sarah (Farrell) and Greg Wolfe on the birth of their baby son. Greyson Charles Wolfe was born February 18th weighing 9 lbs, 7 oz. Congratulations to Andrew and Rachel McKessock on the birth of their baby son. Liam Andrew McKessock was born November 29th, 2010. Congratulations to STFC Alumni Sharon Sale (middle distance group) and Chris Slade (power speed group) on the birth of their baby son. Benjamin Lucas Slade was born January 28th, 2010. Congratulations to Kelda and Liam Card on the birth of their baby girl, Elodie Kathleen Cornell Card, born June 22, 2010, weighing 8.1 lbs. Congratulations to Kelda and Liam Card on their recent marriage. Congratulations to Mark and Joeleen MacDonald on the birth of their baby girl Mylah, born November 23, 2009. Congratulations to Mark Dalgarno who was recently engaged to Grace Wright from Knoxville Tennessee. Mark and Grace met at Princeton where Grace is a rower and is studying Environmental Studies. The wedding is scheduled to be on March 20th, 2010 in Taos, New Mexico. Congratulations to Jason and Erica Weppler on the birth of their baby girl, Taryn Beth, born September 24, 2009, weighing 8 lbs. 1 oz. Baby sister to Payton (3 years old). Congratulations to Patrice (Kuntz) and Dan Bouffard on the birth of their baby boy, Chase Zavier, born September 19th, 2009 weighing 8 lbs, 12 0z. Baby brother to Helene (2003) and Jett (2006).
